Sopot is a resort on the Polish Baltic coast, located midway between the cities of Gdansk and Gdynia. The town has a population of some 40,000, but its significance is greater than its size would suggest due to its close relationship with the two neighbouring cities for which it forms an important recreation centre..
It is home of the longest wooden pier in Europe.
